We are happy to share the news that the area around the basilica and school will receive a sorely needed repaving in the coming weeks through the assistance of Alderman Samantha Nugent and Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer.
The following streets will have closures on Saturday, September 17th, and Friday, September 23rd for construction:
Lemont from Devon to Ionia
Sauganash from Lemont to Keene
Keene from Sauganash to Keating/Ionia.
On Saturday, September 17th, these streets will be milled (the top layer of the asphalt removed) in preparation for repaving. However, the parking lot will be accessible for the 8 am and 5 pm Masses.
Crews will pave on Friday, September 23rd, the school is off that day. As there will be no access to the parking lot for morning Mass on the 23rd, those attending morning Mass will need to find alternative parking for just this one day. Sauganash Ave. will be driveable by 1 pm. We ask for your patience during this work, and please plan ahead.
During the street closures, crews from the Chicago Department of Transportation will be on-site and assist homeowners who need access to their home or driveway. We are working in concert with Alderman Nugent’s office on this project. We are grateful for your patience and look forward to this temporary disruption’s happy and safe conclusion.
