Thanks to all QAS parishioners who responded so generously to the appeal for coats last weekend! Please know that those wonderful coats and winter gear have been well received by many Afghan refugees.
As you may know, families fleeing Afghanistan could only bring one bag each of personal items, thereby arriving at Fort McCoy with literally the clothes they were wearing. The families who are resettling in Chicago are therefore ill prepared for our winters, so the coats, scarves, hats, gloves and boots you donated are very welcome.
Going forward, QAS, through our parish ministries, will be working with Building Peaceful Bridges and Catholic Charities to assist some local families in the resettlement process.
If you are interested in joining the effort in support of this initiative, please click on the link below and check the first box to link the donation to the QAS sponsored families. The website will also provide additional information about Building Peaceful Bridges, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting refugee families.
