Over the past two weeks, I have been having conversations with our 8th graders preparing for the sacrament of confirmation. I am impressed by the letters they have written requesting the sacrament of confirmation, and by their understanding that faith is not a spiritual exercise but must manifest itself in action. The service projects that they have completed and reflected upon testify to their commitment to live their faith.
As part of the parish endeavor to support our young people in living out their faith, we are working together with Catholic Heart Work Camp to provide an opportunity to continue on put their faith into action. The future of the Catholic Church will continue to flourish as we provide the necessary support to our young people to learn and live their faith. For more details, please visit heartworkcamp.com.
While the families help with covering the costs of the trip, the parish will offer financial support. In addition, we request parishioners to visit the local food establishments* we have partnered with to help defray the costs of this week-long trip to Milwaukee from July 7 – 13. See the bulletin and red folder for more details. During this camp they will celebrate Mass daily, work in the community helping build and repair homes, help in soup kitchens and other needs in the community. My hope and prayer is that this will instill in them a greater love for and dedication to their faith and community.
Blessings,
Fr. Simon
