Meet Our New Neighbors

Queen of All Saints has partnered with Building Peaceful Bridges to sponsor three families from Afghanistan who recently arrived in our neighborhood. These families are sharing a  place near Peterson Park.

The families include Basharmal and his wife Hadijah with their two children 4 year old Rashid and two year old Rizwan, Ziba and her daughter Marwa, and Ahmad and his sister Malalay. All three families came to the United States by way of Fort McCoy in Wisconsin. They literally left Afghanistan with the clothes on their backs and were a part of the crowds we saw on television trying to get out of Kabul.  As Basharmal related, they stayed two to three days at the airport with no food and no water. They slept on the airport floor, uncertain of whether they would be able to evacuate.

QAS parishioners who are interested in helping should watch upcoming bulletins as we move forward to integrate these three families into our community.
