Fr. Andrew Bartosz was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Poznan, Poland in 1991, where he earned the degrees Master of Theology in 1990, and S.T.L. (Licentiate in Sacred Theology) in 1992. In 2000, he came to Chicago as a part of the International Priest Initiative introduced by Cardinal Francis George, and was incardinated as a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2009. In the last 10 years Fr. Andrew served as pastor of Our Lady, Mother of the Church parish in Chicago (OLMC) until the merging of neighboring parishes in the Renew My Church process. Before that, he served at St. Thecla, St. Germaine in Oak Lawn, and St. Ladislaus Parishes.
After his mission at OLMC was completed, Fr. Andrew enjoyed sabbatical time at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem, Israel. This experience provided Fr. Andrew with a new perspective of biblical geography and the Bible itself, and insight into Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, including the Christian Orthodox church. This time of studying, traveling, and visiting relatives refreshed Fr. Andrew’s spiritual energy for his continued service in pastoral ministry.
As a pastime Fr. Andrew enjoys traveling, bicycling, photography, ham radio, and model trains.
