The coat drive held on November 18/19 was a big success! A big thanks to everyone who participated in our winter clothing drive for the migrants. We collected over 60 jumbo bags of clothing , half of which was taken to St. Ed’s Parish and the other half is being taken to Oak Park by Fra’ Tom Mulligan, a QAS parishioner and member of the Order of Malta. St. Catherine of Sienna-St. Lucy’s and other Oak Park churches will be the initial recipients, and then possibly Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Melrose Park, and the Scalabrini Fathers who work with migrants in another region.
St. Ed’s has a twice monthly bus to the 17th District police station where they collect migrants and bring them back to the convent for a hot meal, a shower and any items of clothing they need. They were very grateful to Queen of All Saints for all the donations.
Also a big shout out to the teens who came and helped at every Mass with collecting and bagging up the items - it was a big job and they were great!
St. Ed’s was very appreciative with the way everything was separated, as that is exactly what they need for their distributions and our timing was great as they were almost out!
