Congratulations to all our parish confirmands! The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic anointed the confirmands at a beautiful Mass on Saturday, April 20th. Our students have dedicated the last two years to performing acts of mercy, praying, and educating themselves more fully about the faith in order to prepare for a life after confirmation. Their confirmation is a single moment, but the grace that they are sealed with will stay firm in them forever. This week begins May, the month in which the earth springs into bloom (at least in Chicago) and we start thinking about planting gardens, family picnics and making vacation plans. Our Easter collection is one of our two major annual holy day collections to support our parish. Of course, we primarily depend on the support of our parishioners every week throughout the year to fund our total operating budget.  This includes the maintenance of our beautiful Basilica where we gather in shared worship...

We were blessed to have a wonderful day as we celebrated Easter - not just Easter but the entire Triduum. These three most sacred days in the Church awaken in us a new appreciation of the liturgies of these days that are rich in symbolism and meaning and are beautiful expressions of our faith.
